In New Delhi, Germany's field hockey men have lost to Australia in the World Cup final, 2-1. On Saturday, March 13, Australia's Luke Doerner scored the winner with 11 minutes left off a penalty corner to give Australia a second World Cup title, the first being in 1986. Australia had lost the 2002 and 2006 finals against the Olympic champions Germany, who had been bidding to be the first team to lift the World Cup three times in a row.
